Custom Pet Portrait — Original Pen and Ink Drawing
Your animal, drawn by hand in ink and acrylic — not printed, not filtered, not generated. One original on paper, and there is only ever one.
Most pet portraits you will find online are a photograph run through a filter, or a file someone prints on demand. This is a drawing. Maria works from your photographs with fine-point ink pens, some lines as fine as 0.05mm, building the coat and the eyes stroke by stroke over the better part of two weeks. Each one is finished against a hand-painted black ground, so the animal comes forward out of the dark. What arrives at your door is the paper she drew on.
THE COMMISSION
One pet, drawn from your photographs. Ink and acrylic on 110 lb (180 gsm) acid-free mixed media paper, 9 x 12 in. Hand-signed by the artist.
This is an original work, not a print. It is unique, and it cannot be reproduced or reordered.
HOW IT WORKS
- Place your order here.
- Send your photographs — the clearer and the more natural the light, the better. Two or three angles help. Include anything you want remembered: a favourite toy, a collar, the way one ear sits.
- Maria confirms what she can work from, and starts.
- Your drawing is completed, signed, photographed for you, and shipped.
Two to three weeks from the day the photographs are approved.
CHRISTMAS ORDERS
Commissions are open for Christmas delivery. Order by Friday, November 20 to receive your drawing before December 24. Orders placed after that date are welcome, but will be scheduled for the new year.
Places are limited by how many drawings Maria can finish by hand before the holidays. When the slots are gone, the listing comes down.
MADE BY HAND
Every piece leaves the studio in Akron, Ohio, drawn, signed and packed by the artist. Nothing is generated, traced, or filtered. A free sticker ships with every order.
SHIPPING
Ships flat within the United States, protected against bending and moisture, and insured — an original cannot be reprinted if it is lost.
CARE
Hang out of direct sunlight. Handle the drawing by its edges. Ink on paper lasts lifetimes indoors and fades in a window.
